NC Demo March Blog Hop featuring a Watercolor Birthday!

Happy Spring Everyone!

Ok has even trained with Erica Cerwin?  She is fabulous!  I took a online Watercolor Class with her and all I can say is WOW!  It was 12 videos each a different ways to watercolor.  I decided for this month's blog hop to use one.  This is a free hand flower technique.  I created the flowers using the tips of our Stampin' Up Aqua Painters and the full brush head swishing left to right without taking the brush off the watercolor paper.  I also shared two other techniques.  Enjoy!

Flower Birthday
My first step was to run the Cucumber Green cardstock through the Big Shot using the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Can you believe this is the first time I've used that folder?  It's very springy to me!  Next, I cut my flowered watercolor masterpiece (laugh out loud) to fit the width.  When practicing your flowers use a full or half piece of Watercolor Paper and then cut out the piece you like the best.  You will make mistakes.

After that, I wrapped our Venetian Crochet Trim around three times.  Used the Butterflies Thinlits Dies and cut one in Cucumber Green, Pacific Point and Very Vanilla.  Not sure if you can tell, but the butterfly and flowers are covered in Wink of Stella Clear.

Ombre Tree

This card was a Watercolor Wash Ombre technique.  The colors are amazing aren't they?  And of course, who doesn't love the Sheltering Tree Stamp Set.  Erica used a dinosaur....just picture it!  When creating a ombre wash blend, blend and blend again.  Then let it completely dry and do it again!  This more times you wash the brighter the colors.  Use more water when you get those solid lines like shown in mine.  Ooops!  Another good suggestion when watercoloring is attached your paper to a piece of cardboard with painters or washi tape.  This will prevent your paper from curling up with all the water.  That's how I got the solid lines on the top of bottom of this card.

Tabletop Apple

Ok hands down on my favorite watercolor techniques EVER!  This is the full stamp work of art look.  Full stamp meaning a stamp is this 100% solid.  Check out your stamps...what do you have?  This is actually an upside down balloon from the Celebrate Today Stamp Set.  After you stamp, using your aqua painter and being very careful not to use too much water, watercolor your stamped image.  No worries if the image isn't perfect, because it will blend with the water.  Be careful when trying to stay in the lines the water will spread after your done.  Try shadowing light and dark in places and of course don't forget the stem, leaf and tabletop.  Love it!
